Reception
The film was a huge commercial success mainly due to its music (rather than the movie itself) with the showings running to full houses. The audience came to the theaters only to enjoy the songs of the film.
The film was heavily criticized for it's lackluster performances and the undeveloped story. Further criticism was garnered from the weakly written screenplay and the just about average direction.
It is one of the very few bollywood films which was a huge hit not because of the film but because of the film's music.

Anamika (Hindi: अनामिका, Urdu: انامِکا, translation: the one without a name) is a Bollywood film starring Dino Morea, Minissha Lamba and Koena Mitra in the lead roles. It is written and directed by Anant Mahadevan and produced by Bhanwar Lal Sharma. It is a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's film Rebecca (film) (1940).
Plot summary
Vikram Aditya Singh Sisodiya (Dino Morea) a rich industrialist from Rajasthan comes to Mumbai for a business meeting and requests the services of an escort who actually will be his secretary for the day. Jia Rao(Minissha Lamba) who is employed by the escorts service makes a hash of her job, which prompts Dino to train her to be a good escort. Before the day ends, he has proposed marriage, and she has accepted.
Next she moves on to his palatial bungalow where she is introduced to the caretaker Malini (Koena Mitra) and other support staff who do nothing but always refer to the dead Mrs Sisidoya (Anamika). “She would have preferred it this way”, and “she would have done it this way…” Everything in the mansion has her stamp “A” and Jia is trapped, until she musters enough courage to say that she is Mrs Sisodiya. Both try to save their marriage by burying the ghost of the past and by a twist of fate, are led to the body of Anamika. After the dead body is revealed Vikram gets arrested because he is accused of murdering Anamika. When Jia goes back home she see's someone in white clothes. Thinking it is Anamika she follows the ladie and it ends up being Malini. Malini tells Jia that it was her who killed Anamika because she loves Vikram. Malini then sets the place on fire trapping Jia in it. In time Vikram and his friend arrive there and save Jia. While vikram was saving Jia he see's Malini claiming that Jia was committing suicide because she couldn't bare the truth that her husband had killed his first wife, but Vikram knows the truth that Malini had killed Anamika and set Gajner (the palatial bungalow) on fire. Malini then confesses her love for Vikram. Vikram tells her to get out of the room, but she refuses and is burnt to death. Vikram and Jia survive the fire and it is predicted that they live a happy married life.
