హారిస్ జయరాజ్ జనవరి 8, 1975న చెన్నైలో జన్మించాడు. తండ్రి ఎస్.ఎమ్.జయకుమార్... మళయాళంలో ప్రముఖ సంగీత దర్శకులు శ్యామ్ దగ్గర చాలా సినిమాలకు గిటారిస్ట్‌గా పనిచేశారు. హారిస్ జయరాజ్‌ను మంచి గాయకుడిగా చేద్దామనుకున్నారు తండ్రి. కానీ హారిస్ తన 6వ ఏట నుండే సంగీతం పట్ల అభిరుచి పెంచుకొన్నాడు. కర్ణాటక సంగీతాన్ని అభ్యసించాడు. గౌతమ్ మీనన్ దర్శకత్వంలో వచ్చిన ‘మిన్నలే (2001)’ తమిళ చిత్రంతో సంగీత దర్శకునిగా పరిచయమయ్యాడు. మొదటి చిత్రానికే ఉత్తమ సంగీత దర్శకునిగా ఫిల్మ్‌ఫేర్ అవార్డును అందుకున్నారు. అదే సినిమా తెలుగులో ‘చెలి’ గా విడుదలయ్యింది. ఆ తర్వాత వాసు, ఘర్షణ, అపరిచితుడు, గజిని, సైనికుడు, మున్నా, ఆరెంజ్, రంగం, స్నేహితుడు... వంటి సినిమాలకు ఎన్నో సూపర్ హిట్‌సాంగ్స్ అందించాడు.
